The City of Oakdale takes great pride in its beautiful urban tree canopy. In an effort to preserve these trees, the City has developed and adopted a Tree Preservation Ordinance. You may view or download an electronic version of this Ordinance by clicking the link provided at the bottom of the page. We recommend that you read through the Tree Preservation Ordinance prior to removal of any trees within the City Limits. To determine if your tree requires a permit for removal, please refer to the following guidelines:
Any Non-Oak Tree
- Measure up the trunk to a spot that is 3 feet from the ground.
- At that point, measure the diameter of the trunk (across, not around).
- If the trunk diameter is 24 inches or greater at the 3-foot mark, you will require a Tree Removal Permit. You may view or download an electronic version of this Permit by clicking the link provided below.
