Emergency Operations Center

The City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is located at Fire Station 1, 325 East G Street.  The EOC is designed to meet the needs of any disaster that may arise from natural or manmade events.  The EOC is a secured facility and the resources to operate during a disaster are kept on hand at all times.  The City Manager and Fire Chief are responsible for Disaster Preparedness and Planning and, by ordinance; The Fire Chief is the Deputy to the City Manager who is the Disaster Manager for the City.   The Department has coordinated a city facility wide fire and life safety evacuation and drill plan.  The Department has developed a program for all City buildings to be updated with evacuation plans, automatic external defibrillators, first aid kits and fire extinguishers.  The Department maintains the external defibrillators, first aid kits and fire extinguishers for the City.   The City Disaster Plan is in the process of being updated to meet current Homeland Security requirements.  Recently, all City employees were trained in the National Incident Management System.  This new Homeland Security requirement will require additional training each year for all City employees including elected officials.  The training is based on the Incident Command System that was developed in California by the FIRESCOPE.
