The Department provides both on the job training as well as organized training with other agencies. The City entered into contract and is a member of the Modesto Junior College Regional Fire Training Center in Modesto. All firefighters have graduated from the Regional Fire Training Center Academy. Each new member of the department completes a yearlong training program that meets our local needs. The Training Officer who is also a Fire Captain administers the Department training program. Once a month, the entire department meets for a meeting and training. The Training Officer is also a member of the Stanislaus County Fire Training Officer’s Association. The Department provides first aid and CPR training to City staff and the community. The Department has certified and qualified instructors in many areas of emergency response. Some members hold teaching credentials at the community college level and do instruct courses for the Modesto Junior College and other local community colleges. With increasing training mandates by the State and Federal government, it becomes a challenge to maintain the required training of all employees to meet the minimum training requirements.
All personnel in the Department are trained (as a minimum) to the following levels:
The Department meets and exceeds all known required training and the list is not inclusive of all training.
