The Department has had a strong presence in public education for many years.  The current programs address children and adults with year round events.  Each year, all children in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District that reside in Oakdale, grades K through the 6^th, receive a program that has been a huge success.  The department typically provides a performance using characterization, music and humor to promote and teach fire and public safety to the children.  Public Education is a key element in our low fire loss experience in Oakdale.  We also carry the public education campaign to the senior’s in our community.  The public education program has had a positive effect on our children and young adults and is evident by the very low occurrence of children becoming involved in setting fires.  The program has also resulted in a very low occurrence of children being injured or killed by fire.

The Oakdale Fire Department welcomes everyone down to take a tour of either station. The department has students from all grade levels take field trips to either station to see the day to day operations of firefighters.
