CITY OF OAKDALE APPOINTS INTERIM CITY wellman photoMANAGER 

On Monday, July 18, 2011, the Oakdale City Council appointed Gregory B. Wellman as Interim City Manager.  Mr. Wellman will begin work on August 1.

 Gregory B. Wellman is an experienced City Manager who has served in a variety of different agencies with a track record of success. Mr. Wellman first served as County Administrator for about five (5) years of his 35 year tenure with the County before accepting the position of City Manager at the City of Atwater, where he served for eight (8) years.  He was also the first UC Merced Project Director.  Since his retirement in November 2010, he has been providing consulting services and working part-time as the General Manager at Keys Special District.  Mr. Wellman graduated valedictorian from Brigham Young University.  Additional work experience include:  assistant county administrator, social worker, drug abuse coordinator, human services agency director.  Mr. Wellman has the experience, skills, and fortitude necessary to handle the difficult issues facing the City. 

Following Mr. Wellman’s appointment, Mayor Pat Paul stated, “Greg comes to us with a wealth of information, experience and skills.  We need this experience to get us through this transition period while we look for a permanent City Manager.  We are looking forward to welcoming him to Oakdale.”
