I would like to welcome you to the Oakdale Police Department website. It is my hope that you will find this site to be a valuable resource for you to learn about the department and the men and women who dedicate themselves to serving you. As a law enforcement agency, we are constantly seeking ways in which to join in partnership with the community to make Oakdale a better place to live, work, and visit.
In 2007, the Oakdale Police Department consisted of 28 sworn officers, 13 civilian support staff, and a host of volunteers in various positions. In July 2009, our agency undertook a major reorganization that was largely driven by the recession. Further budget impacts occurred in July 2010, again the result of the recession and declining sales tax revenues. Fortunately, the Oakdale Police Department was awarded a U.S. Department of Justice COPS Grant and a second grant from the California Emergency Management Agency. Both grants are funding two full-time sworn officer positions. Today, the Department consists of 21 sworn officers, 7 reserve officers, and 13 civilian support staff. We are also blessed to have a group of over 30 CAPS Volunteers who provide much needed support.
As Chief, I recognize the importance of stating a clear and concise mission statement and identifying strategic goals as a benchmark for success. Our mission is "working to protect and safeguard those we serve." Our agency has identified nine strategic goals that focus on reducing crime, gang and drug activity, and traffic accidents in the City of Oakdale. Each month, we post the results of our goals on this site along with our daily crime logs. I invite you to contact us with any comments, questions, or suggestions that you might have at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Again, thank you for your willingness to be a partner and we look forward to working together with you to maintain a safe and livable city for all to enjoy.
Sincerely,
Marty West Chief of Police |
