On behalf of the more than 130 individuals employed by the City of Oakdale, I want to thank you for visiting the City’s website. I am very proud to be associated with an organization that values communication with its residents. Whether it is those who keep the roads, water, and waste water systems working; inspect new buildings for safety and accessibility; plan for our City’s future; deliver recreation and leisure programs; or keep our community safe and secure 24 hours a day, our greatest desire is that our work will improve the quality of life for all Oakdale citizens. All of us at the City are dedicated to providing quality service in a manner that enhances confidence in your local government. The City Manager’s Office provides oversight and direction to all City programs and departments ensuring the needs of the community are met while responding to City Council goals and priorities. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and is responsible for carrying out the objectives of the Council as well as the long-range strategic planning necessary to accommodate anticipated growth and development. All employees, with the exception of the City Attorney and City Clerk, are appointed by the City Manager, and all department directors report to the City Manager. The City Manager is responsible for preparing and presenting the annual fiscal year budget to the City Council and for making resource allocation recommendations. Throughout the year, the City Manager keeps the Council fully apprised of the financial condition, operational activities, and economic needs of the City. The office is also the liaison with other City, County and State government officials on matters of mutual interest. The full duties of the City Manager are specifically outlined in the Municipal Code.
